Testimonials
“Adam & Alisa of Halcyon Homesteads are a godsend to gardens! Two years after my garden was featured on the Forbes Library Garden Tour it was overrun by goutweed (a.k.a. bishop’s weed) in every bed. I was in despair as fellow gardeners said it was impossible to get rid of and it was until I hired Adam & Alisa. Using all-natural means, they have systematically eliminated it from my garden, helped replant, and built a beautiful curving frame for the front bed. They are very knowledgeable about native plant species and do great garden maintenance and seasonal clean-ups. I recommend them wholeheartedly.”

“8 years ago, we had reached a state of paralysis with regards to the outdoor space of our home. Extended pieces of irregular weeds with small oases of grass. Bushes had become small erosive trees flanking 2 sides of the house and blocking out light, with only a seeming Gothic purpose. Traumatized passers by would accelerate, while averting the eyes of their offspring and dogs.
Consequently, it was our profound good fortune to happen upon Alisa and Adam, Halcyon Homesteads.
With tremendous vision, meticulous planning and an extraordinary knowledge of a wide variety of resilient and sustainable trees, perennial flowers, plants and bushes they set about calmly transforming our front and back yards into gardens. Returning home from work, I still am obliged to reconsider whether this is actually our legal abode.
The front is breathtaking year round. Small trees, bushes and flowers abound within niftily placed herbaceous borders and rock gardens. A small paved walkway intersects the central of these, with a joyous shade tree eccentrically placed. Incidentally the scope of the property is modest by all suburban standards.
Not surprisingly, they have an incredible work ethic. No unfinished business or incomplete clean up is part of their history.
Alisa and Adam do not pay lip service to the stewardship of this planet. No fertilizers, pesticides or water table contaminants are used. Perish the thought! Consequently we have a most wonderful array of avian and insect visitors as our co-inhabitors of this small niche. This is not to say that they do not have creative solutions to deterring unwanted visitors, with lovely and often fragrant plantings or similar.
At this point, the following statements are utterly redundant, one may hope:
-these are people of the highest moral and ethical fiber, to which we should all aspire.
-we have no hesitation in recommending Halcyon Homesteads, without qualification.
-they are true landscapers and gardeners in every sense of those words (one might despair of them solely being thought of with mowers or "weedwhackers"; an abomination)
As a result it is now a valid home for us, children, grandchildren and canine family.”
